    Q Can anything be done about the intersection at Koch Lane and Almaden Expressway in San Jose? In the morning and afternoon, people block nearby Almaden Road, waiting to get on the expressway. You can't go across or turn left. Could the city paint the street with a "DO NOT BLOCK" message?

  • 2100 block of Lincoln Street East Palo Alto police still searching for suspects in drive-by shooting death

    Last week, two men were injured after gunmen fired about 20 shots from an assault rifle at them on the 2100 block of Lincoln Street. One of the victims has permanent brain damage from a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

    The Albertson’s at Bird & Minnesota/Alma closed in 2006, with the empty promise of a new Fresh & Easy opening there someday, after crushing Zanotto’s hopes of opening in that location. The Safeway at Almaden & Curtner departed this past January with similarly high hopes. But, alas nothing.
