Officers went to the 2000 block of Story Road at about 10:05 p.m. Saturday on reports of a shooting and found the 12-year-old boy suffering a gunshot wound and a 13-year-old boy who had been stabbed, Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said.

San Jose boy shot, another stabbed while trick-or-treating Halloween night
About 10 p.m. Saturday, the boys were walking in the area of Story Road and Hopkins Drive when suspected gang members began hassling them, police said. A fight ensued and gunfire erupted, with a bullet striking the younger child. The older was stabbed in the fight, police said.

The two boys were reportedly out trick-or-treating on Halloween night about 10 p.m. on Story Road and Hopkins Drive when they were accosted by the alleged gang members, police had previously said. Police and the Lee Mathson principal have said the victims are not gang members.
